Via Domus has a lot of interesting information, and of course it was a lot of fun to interact with the characters and island. It was pretty awesome to run into Juliet and Ben in the wilderness and have to confront Tom. So strictly from a Lost fan perspective, the game delivered as far as including all the cool things you've wanted to do - explore the Swan, the Flame, find the VW in the woods, etc.
However, the game is actually quite boring the play. The controls are horrible and the game flows poorly. For some reason, darkness automatically kills your character, so if your torch runs out in a cave, you're starting over. The characters look okay for the most part, but some of the voice acting is pitiful - especially Locke and Sawyer.
This is work going through for a Lost fan, but with its poor playability and confusing puzzles (your character spends most of his time in hatches putting fuses in puzzles, which is exactly as much fun as it sounds), this game is going to draw anyone into the Lost universe who isn't there already.
Mines still not working. I get past the jungle with Smokey and it crashes. i've read numerous posts from other people that the same thing has happned to, I've updated my drivers numerous times, and its still crashing. And I don't think Ubi. is maing a patch, or at least they didnt say. So I'm a little disappointed.
I thought it was alright but they could have spent more time with it and do different thing. I think maybe down the road they could try again, maybe after LOST is over but they need to do a lot of things differently and take their time with it. I'd also love it if it was more canon, hence why it would be good for after the show, they could wrap up anything that they didn't have the time for in show.
they also definitely need to secure the original actors, they have to.
Also they need better variation of puzzles, not the same fuse one done over a million times. I personally think it should be written by the show's team, Darlton to be specfic. And i think that it needs to feel more like the show. Sure it had some elements like the Lost Logo and the smash to the Logo at the end of the episode but it didnt feel as climatic as the show.
And i know it has the music from the show but i couldnt feel the songs that i know and love,
Not once did we get to hear the song that places when its sentimental, which was one of my favorites. The sound for the opening Logo wasn't even right.
*sigh*
I still like the game for what it is, but they definitely could improve it. I liked seeing what was behind the wall in the hatch though, but that felt like the only thing that was exclusive to the game.
Dark, maybe an option for people who didn't play it? Just a thought. :)
Played This Game On Xbox360 And Completed It In 2 Hours, With 1000 Gamerscore. Good Game But Way To Short
The game is crap. Plain and simple.
Yeah this game wasn't very good. It's worth a rental to get some very easy achievement points, and to interact with classic settings and characters around the island, but that's really it. I'm pretty sure you fire a gun twice, and being forced to walk the whole time whilst carrying the dynamite was just plain stupid.
Copy/Pasted from another comment further down the page:
I'm very disappointed that the developers of the game chose not to support those of us with laptops (for the PC version) and only made the game to support desktop PC video cards. I've got one of the brand new HP Pavilion Entertainment Edition laptops - kick-ass hardware by any standards (2.0GB of RAM is pretty good no matter how you package it, IMHO - 2.0GB is also the recommended RAM for playing Via Domus on a computer) - and I can't play Via Domus on my laptop because, according to the back of the box, "Laptop versions of these video cards may not work and are NOT supported." The game was bought as a gift...and now I can't even play it.
Again, I'm very disappointed that they chose not to support those of us with laptops. Maybe someday if I ever have a desktop computer (which is doubtful), I can play this game (in case you haven't picked up on it by now, I don't have a "next-gen" gaming console - I'm effing broke!) :-(
